Item #3798 The History and Power of Mind. Richard Ingalese.

The History and Power of Mind

New York: The Occult Book Concern, 1905. Third Edition. Hardcover octavo (5-3/4 x 8-1/4 inches). Blue cloth with titles stamped in gilt to top board and spine. Tissue-guarded portrait frontispiece, 284pp, xxiv, [3]pp advert. A series of lectures given around New York City by noted lawyer, alchemist, and occultist Richard Ingalese, prepared with his wife Isabella, a novelist and occultist of note herself. Biographical details of the pair have largely eluded scholars, despite concerted efforts given the tantalizing few details we do possess (in a 1928 lecture in Los Angeles, Richard claimed they had successfully created the Philospher's Stone; their surname "Ingalese" is seemingly adopted, as Richard was born "Richard Ward", etc). Scarce in early editions. Good. Boards worn and soiled; binding a tad shaken; pages dampstained; still eminently readable. Item #3798
