Black Bart Brigade : The Outlaw Magazine Number 1
Canyon, CA: Black Bart Brigade, November 1971. Saddle-stapled octavo (7 x 9-3/4 inches) in illustrated wraps, 56 pp.
First issue of this countercultural magazine inspired by the editor's midlife surge of political idealism, embracing new ways of revolutionary self-management in the name of taking down the system.
This issue focuses on communes and works projects with an emphasis on mutual aid, specifically land projects in the Pacific Northwest and the bay area based New Vocations Project, respectively.
There's also a good article on the seldom documented San Francisco warehouse commune, Project One by Bruce Baird excerpted from the very scarce book, Working Loose All this and more following a strong dedication to the namesake of this magazine, Black Bart and outlaws in general. Very good condition, oxidation to pages around staple binding, some toning to wraps and text block, else lightly worn with clean contents. Item #3678
