The first story in the "Storybook" series by gay erotic illustrator Etienne [1933-1991], one of the nom de erotiques employed by Dom Orejudos. Erudos was a peer and close friend of Tom of Finland, who he worked alongside from the 1950s through his death helping create a new machismo image for gay erotica depiction that tacked more into machismo, leather, and beefcake. Orejudo began publishing with gay arts imprint Target Studios after losing much of his work in a plumbing flood in the 1970s.Studs in the Saddle, a western story of a "virile" town sheriff encountering a band of outlaws, who bind him and have their way with him, stands as one of his earlier efforts with Target, and in its nondescript, discreet binding, remains a scarcity on the market since its original heyday in sleaze stores and back-page mail order catalogs.
