Softcover 8 1/8" x 10 7/8", staple-bound in glossy B&W illustrated wrappers, 22 pp. Edited by journeyman, co-founder of Anthology Film Archives and The Film-Makers' Cooperative in New York City, Jonas Mekas. Film Culture magazine was the print arm for the godfather of Avant-garde cinema. The magazine ran for 80 issues from 1954 until 1996. This issue's cover is photo-illustrated with Lillian Gish and Charles Laughton on the set of "Night of the Hunter." Contributions include reflections on James Agee by Jay Leyda; interview with Boris Kaufman; essay on West German film; Lotte Eisner on the Cannes Film Festival; George Antheil essay on contemporary film scores; Herman G. Weinberg's 'Coffee, Brandy & Cigars'; film and book reviews. Good condition, considerable wear to cover wraps, price sticker on cover, ends (~1") of staple-binding lightly separating, newsprint end pages also separating at ends; some creasing and soiling to wraps as well; otherwise a very sound reader's copy.
